Manatee Springs State Park Recap By Lynn Morri January 2020
A Big Thank You to Lynn & Willie for hosting our October campout.
Friday afternoon, as Willie was preparing our site for the Friday night meet & greet (We - Willie & Lynn were hosting), the Potluck campers began to roll in.
Sixteen campers gathered around the campfire including newbies Richard & Michelle. Welcome Richard & Michelle! We also had an unexpected visitor who kept trying to join our group - a racoon ("Rocky"). While Rocky's night of adventures was just beginning ours was ending at 9:30 and at this writing we wonder who Rocky will be inviting to Saturday night's Potluck dinner!
On Saturday morning Robert, Denise, Rob, Sharon, Pat, George, Richard & Michelle went kayaking/canoeing for 2 hours. They saw turtles, birds and were surrounded by manatee - all around and underneath their boats. Weather was great - over cast, cool & comfortable temps, making this an ideal day to enjoy the spring.
Later that evening the Potluck campers began to arrive at our site. Gathered around the campfire, we enjoyed each other's company and the delicious dishes everyone prepared. Nature continued to entertain us throughout the evening as squirrels, deer, racoons and even an armadillo made appearances - Robet, Willie and Lynn stayed up long enough to see the armadillo. With perfect weather, food & company (both human and animal), a good time was had by all.
Sunday morning some of the group went for a bike ride, some packed up and left and others took it easy until it was time for movie night at Rob and Sharon's site. The surprise backup movie was, "The In-laws". Rob was experiencing technical difficulties and could not show us the original surprise movie. Thank you Rob for the funny movie - good choice! Thank you to all the Potluck campers for making this another wonderful camping experience! Hope to see you all in February!
